The Homer Village Board of Trustees Wednesday night authorized Mayor Hal McCabe to accept $311,403 from State Parks for the Route 11 Corridor Acquisition Project.
In other business, the Homer vacant building law from 2012 requires an annual report by codes officer by April 15. The annual report is to list what needs to be done by owners to bring vacant buildings up to code. Trustee Pat Clune says we’ll see that list by the next Village Board meeting.
The Board reminded village residents that trash cans are allowed on the curb after 5 pm the day before pickup, and must be removed by 5 pm after pickup. The Board may revisit fines if needed.
The Village DPW has trimmed trees around the village. There are more that need attention. If homeowners have concerns, contact the DPW office.
The Board also approved leasing an exhaust ventilation system for the Homer fire station to clear diesel exhaust fumes. The setup is similar to systems in use at Cortlandville and McGraw fire departments. The Mayor told Fire Chief Mahlon Irish, Jr it will be paid for through the building reserve fund.
