Yes Featuring Anderson, Rabin, Wakeman (ARW) have announced its “Quintessential Yes: The 50th Anniversary Tour.” According to the tour’s press release, “The 100-show World Tour will commence on June 3rd, 2018 in Warsaw, Poland, and feature shows in Scandinavia, Germany, UK and North America in 2018, going on to South America, Central and Southern Europe, ending in Japan and the Far East in 2019.” The band, which features Yes alumnus, singer Jon Anderson, guitarist Trevor Rabin, and keyboardist Rick Wakeman, will kick off it’s North American shows at L.A.’s famed Whisky A Go Go, where in June 1971 Yes first performed as a headliner. The touring lineup of ARW is rounded out by Lee Pomeroy on bass and Louis Molino III on drums.
Coming in August, a new double-CD / triple LP Yes anthology curated by Jon Anderson. In addition to that, a live CD/DVD of the ARW show from March 2017 Manchester, England gig will be released. Anderson, Rabin, Wakeman are currently hard at work at a studio set which could be out by the end of the year.
Keyboardist Rick Wakeman told us that the death of founding Yes bassist Chris Squire spurred on the formation of ARW: “Jon and I have done three duo tours together, two in the UK and one in America. And we always talked about putting something together (using) Yes music with Trevor — it was something that we all wanted to do. Quite honestly, it came to head when we lost our great friend, Chris Squire. In a strange way, I think most musicians think that we’re, y’know, immortal. We think we’re gonna go on forever. And when you lose somebody close — especially in a band that you’ve been a part of, it does bring it home.”
