New For Family Health Network – A Health Clinic On Wheels

Local News

Walter Priest, President and CEO of Family Health Network

Family Health Network President and CEO Walter Priest looks forward to a new tool to expand the outreach of his agency: A health clinic on wheels, a bus, which is currently under design.

Priest said, “The really good news for us is – we did receive a grant which will fund for a good portion of it, and we also got a smaller grant from CareCompass network…which will pay towards the operational expenses for the first year.”

He predicts this outreach will have an impact. “We’ll make sure the community is saturated with information saying that the bus is going to be here… We’ll deliver services, both medical and dental, to anybody who shows up and payment’s not going to be an issue, because that’s not what we do.”

Priest expects the clinic to take Family Health Care services to patients who’ve had difficulty getting to existing clinics. “We will go where the patients are. So, our primary thing will be to locate areas where patients have difficulty getting from one spot to another.”

How committed is he to this new access to healthcare?  “I kid around, but I’m only half-kidding,” said Priest. “My retirement plans are to be the driver (laughs). I want the hat, and I want to be able to get out there.”
