Sure was windy yesterday. A couple of wind gusts reached 45 mph and were recorded at 3:15 and 5:35 pm at the Cortland Airport weather station.
National Grid crews were busy Thursday repairing power outages, including a couple dozen homes each in the Towns of Solon and Truxton, which may be without service for most of the day. A small number of customers in the City of Cortland and Town of Virgil could be back online earlier.
NYSEG reported about 60 customers without power at mid-morning, mostly in Marathon, plus a few in Freetown, Taylor and Willet. NYSEG hopes to make repairs by evening or later.
I-81 was closed for more than 90-minutes overnight when a tractor trailer jackknifed closing the southbound lanes between the Homer and Cortland exits. State, County and city police helped.
