Access To Independence CEO Lobbies Lawmakers In Albany

Local News

Chad Underwood, CEO, ATI

Access to Independence CEO Chad Underwood is with disability advocates from across the state in Albany on Monday, in a final push for increased state spending for the disabled.

As an example, the Senate’s budget includes $5 million more for independent living centers, while the Assembly’s version went up a million.

Underwood also hopes to persuade lawmakers to spend more on Access to Home funding for modifications to homes, and for staff to reactivate the dormant Office for the Advocate for People with Disabilities. The return of this Office could streamline disability civil rights efforts.
