SAFE Act Polls Well With New Yorker Voters, According To Siena

Local News

A Siena Poll out Monday morning shows the SAFE Act remains very popular with voters, 61-28%.

Voters also strongly to overwhelmingly support gun or school safety measures passed separately by the Assembly and Senate.

This includes bans on the sale of assault weapons nationally.

The Governor’s favorability rating was steady, but his job performance and re-elect ratings slipped a little, according to Siena, which says voters prefer Cuomo by wide margins over a potential Democratic challenger, Cynthia Nixon, and either of the leading Republican challengers.

The Governor would like to add to the SAFE Act, saying he heard students and adults on National Walkout Day demanding gun reform.

Andrew Cuomo proposes to extend the background check waiting period up to 10 days, along with a goal of keeping people with a history of domestic violence from owning guns.
