Firefighters Quickly Put Out Early Morning Fire In Homer

Just before 6am Saturday, firefighters from the Village of Homer and the City of Cortland were called to a reported fire at 11 North Main St. in Homer.

The Sherman House Restaurant is at 11 North Main St.

Firefighters located a small fire in a wall and quickly put it out. The extent of the damage is not known at this time.

A section of North Main St. between James to Wall and Clinton Streets was closed for around 2 hours to allow firefighters to run hose from a hydrant across the street. North Main Street reopened after 8 am.

There are no reports of any injuries at this time.

Homer Police, Cortland County Sheriff’s Deputies and New York State Police also responded to the scene.

The Cortland County Fire Investigation Team was called in to determine the cause of the fire.
