Alcohol Part Of Fatal Crash That Injured Two People From Moravia

Cayuga County Sheriff David Gould reports additional information on a fatal two-car accident that occurred on Route 34 at Fleming-Scipio Town Line Road in the Town of Fleming on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at about 9:30 pm.

Stephen Landon, 53, of Skaneateles, was driving a Honda Accord northbound and crossed the center line striking an oncoming vehicle in the southbound lane.

Landon remains at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. Mr. Landon was wearing his seatbelt and airbags were deployed.

Sheriff Gould reports his department’s investigation has shown that alcohol consumption on the part of Mr. Landon was a contributing factor in the accident. Criminal charges are pending.

Travis Manwaring, 25, of Auburn, was the driver of a Ford Taurus that was hit by Landon’s vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Gould. Mr. Manwaring was wearing his seatbelt and airbags were deployed.

The passengers in his vehicle continue to recover from their injuries and are identified by police as:

  • Front passenger, Jessica Bohall, 27, Auburn. Seatbelt was worn and airbags deployed.
  • Left rear passenger, Matthew McIntosh, 26, Moravia. Seatbelt was worn.
  • Right rear passenger, Zachary McIntosh, 17, Moravia. No seatbelt.
