Cortland Police are trying to find Stephen Martincak, who is 47, for a violation of probation.

Martincak is named in a warrant from September 2015.

He was originally charged with DWI and last lived on Penguin Drive.

When you’re on parole, you may get a home visit.

George Harris, who is 44, is on parole, and was paid a visit.

Parole officers called in Cortland Police.

Harris was arrested Friday morning for marijuana possession, using drug paraphernalia, drug possession and felony possession of a forged instrument.

Lt. Rick Troyer reports that Harris was a suspect in a fraudulent check passed February 1 for $1,600.

He’s due in court Wednesday.


A woman from Cortland is accused of shoving a 33-year old man at a home on Grant Street.

Lisa Symcak, who is 44, was arrested for Harassment and Obstruction of Governmental Administration on Saturday evening just before 6.

Police say on the way to the station, she tried to break the back seat window of the patrol car by banging her head against the window.

Symcak was released until her next court date in two weeks.


A Cortland woman is accused of punching a man in the face and breaking the side view mirror on his vehicle.

Latesha Dexter, 26, was arrested at 1 am Sunday and charged with Criminal Mischief, Harassment, Assault, and felony Weapon Possession.

Officers say she had some metal knuckles, and had a habit of spitting on officers as she was being arrested, and in the booking area.

The 66-year old victim was cut on his face and his eye swelled up, but he did not seek medical attention, according to police.

Dexter’s due back in court in two weeks.


A man from Mastic Beach, NY, was arrested by Cortland Police at around 1 am Saturday.

Officers report that Vincent Castellano, who is 21, broke a window at 87 Main Street, ran away, and fought with police trying to arrest him.

He’s charged with Criminal Mischief, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration.

Castellano’s to return to City Court March 21.
