The truck driver who was behind the wheel during a fatal crash into an Ithaca Commons restaurant last June has pled guilty to four traffic violations.
37-year-old Viacheslav Grychanyi, of Spokane, Wash. has pled guilty to speeding, having defective brakes, and two counts of having an over-length trailer.
Grychanyi was operating a car carrier on East State Street in Ithaca when he lost control and barreled into the Simeon’s Restaurant.
The crash killed 27-year-old Amanda Bush and injured several others. A police reconstruction team has said Grychani was traveling a more than 45 miles down East State Street at the time of the crash.
Grychanyi has been fined $1,929 in connection with his guilty plea in Ithaca Town Court.
Grychanyi still faces a lawsuit in connection with the young woman’s death.
