Flags on State buildings are at half-staff today (Tuesday) to honor New York State Police Trooper Michael Anson.

Anson was with state police for 31 years, but it was his selfless service at Ground Zero after 9-11 that led to the cancer that eventually killed him.

He leaves a wife and three children.

Services are today (Tuesday) in Loudonville and the Lt. Governor will attend on behalf of all New Yorkers.

Anson’s final act was to record a message to other first responders at Ground Zero urging early detection for cancer.

We have a link to the message on our Facebook page.
