According to the WebMD website, Cortland County had a jump in cases of the flu during Christmas week, but then the rate slowed.
WebMD reports the prevalent symptoms from our area as coughs, congestion, runny nose and sneezing very high, with minimal reporting of sore throats and fever.
Hospitals in New York’s larger cities have started to limit visitation in the effort to control the spread of the flu.
We checked with Cortland Regional Medical Center which is monitoring the flu in our community, but hasn’t limited visitors yet.
The advice from spokesperson Molly Lane?
- Stay home if you’re sick
- Get a flu shot
- Cover your mouth when you sneeze, then wash your hands
- grab a mask – (found at all the main entrances at CRMC)
