Ithaca Standoff Ends Peacefully After Several Hours

Local News

Ithaca Police were called to a home in the 100 block of Second Street at about 1:40 am today (Monday).

Someone was concerned about people arguing.

Officers saw a man go out a window onto a roof. As more officers arrived, he returned inside and barricaded himself in the home.

Police learned the man was named in an order of protection for a resident at that home.

According to police, everyone else in the building was safely removed and the Ithaca SWAT and CINY (Critical Incident Negotiation Team) were brought in.

Initially, the man didn’t want to talk, but after several hours, he was taken into custody without incident.

Police say felony charges are pending against George Wilson, 43, who is from Elmira.

The Ithaca Police Department was assisted by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, Bangs Ambulance, Ithaca Fire Department, City of Ithaca DPW, New York State Police, and Tompkins County Mental Health.
