Oldtimers’ Band To Celebrate 50th Anniversary On Sunday

Local News, Music News

On Sunday, November 5, the Cortland Oldtimers Band will perform its annual free end of season Salute to Veterans concert.

Band publicist Dick Martin expects a “REALLY BIG SHOW” for the group’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. “And that will feature Arnald Gabriel, conductor, and he’s going to do guest conducting of a couple of pieces, and he’s also bringing with him a Homer graduate, Homer High School graduate. His name is Dale Underwood.”

Martin suggests you watch for a special DVD on the anniversary, featuring lots of interviews from members.

During this 50th Anniversary Season, the Oldtimers Band has supported the effort to bring a new stage to Courthouse Park. “The City of Cortland is trying to get the plans together to make this new stage down in Cortland and, we will be, as part of our anniversary year, trying to bring attention to that, because we think that that’s right down our alley. (laughs)”

The Cortland Oldtimers band plays at Grace Christian Fellowship Church on Fisher Avenue at 3pm Sunday.

Martin is our guest on Meet Cortland County Saturday morning at 9 on X101 Always Classic.
