Job And Income At Issue In Welfare Fraud Charge

The Cortland County Department of Social Services and Sheriff’s Investigator/Sgt. Jason Newcomb report the arrest of a man from Cortland for Welfare Fraud and Petit Larceny.

James Keeney, 26, was arrested Thursday morning following an investigation into his employment and income for June and July of this year.

The DSS determined that Keeney did not provide required information and received about $300 in benefits he was not entitled to.

Keeney was ticketed for the misdemeanors to appear in Cortland City Court on September 18, 2017.
