The American Legion Post 465 in Homer is planning its annual ceremony to commemorate the attacks on the World Trade Center towers in New York City, the Pentagon, and the planned attack on the White House that was foiled when passengers overpowered terrorists before crashing a jet in Pennsylvania, on September 11, 2001.
The ceremony will be held at the 9/11 Memorial Site on Main Street in front of the Homer Village Office Building, between the Homer Fire Department and American Legion Post 465.
The event is September 11, 2017 at 6 pm and is rree to all who wish to attend.
The American Legion Family will organize the 9/11 Ceremony and a Reception for First Responders.
A member of the Homer Fire Department summarize the events of 9/11/2001 and the story of how the department was able to obtain a piece of one of the Twin Towers.
Cake will be served in the Legion hall following the remarks, to honor our First Responders.
Organizers say the community is welcome to attend, invited to help thank those who keep us safe on a daily basis.
