Cortland Area Helps Hurricane Victims

Cortland native Rosie Taravella – the regional CEO for the American Red Cross of Western and Central New York, is headed to Texas to collaborate with Red Cross partners.

114 staff members and volunteers are on the Harvey recovery.

Twenty-seven workers from the local region are assigned to the U.S. Virgin Islands, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina with additional deployments expected.


Cortland residents can donate to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts: Sun Auto Group will donate part of every vehicle sale to the Red Cross.

This Saturday and next Saturday, September 16, get a car washed and the suggested $10 donation will be matched by Sun Auto, and donors will receive a coupon for a free state inspection.

Sun Auto is also collecting food, clothing, and supplies.


Tops Supermarkets will collect money to help Hurricane victims Friday and Saturday and the company announced it will donate a truckload of water, vegetables, and bleach to the relief efforts.
