With his upcoming first annual benefit concert to support veterans and their families…Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Gold Star survivor, Joe Walsh has announced recipients that will benefit from the profits. Those include organizations such as Operation Mend, Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, and Warrior Canine Connection.
Walsh was less than 2 years old when his father died while on active duty on Okinawa, Japan and over the years has assisted various veterans’ charities. He stated: “It’s the least I could do for those who have served and continue to serve our country. We’re all in this together as Americans and seems to me lately that people are forgetting that.”
The concert featuring multiple artists will take place in Fairfax, Virginia on September 20th. Tickets are still available.
Along with Walsh himself, his guest for the benefit will include Zac Brown Band, Gary Clark Jr., and Keith Urban.
Walsh has visited Walter Reed Medical Center where he offered free guitar lessons to wounded veterans. With assistance from industry experts, Walsh and leaders of VetsAid reviewed numerous organizations before selecting the initial eight veteran-and caregiver-focused charities.
The complete list of organizations chosen: Operation Mend, Hire Heroes USA, Warrior Canine Connection, TAPS, Semper Fi Fund, Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, Stop Soldier Suicide, and Swords to Plowshares.
