Brett Gardner lined a slider from rookie Andrew Kittredge a half-dozen rows into the right-field seats leading off the 11th inning, circled the bases with his career-high 18th home run, and crossed home plate as the winning run lifting the Yankees over the Rays, 6-5. The Yankees went so wild celebrating, rookie star Aaron Judge lost part of a tooth. Game two tonight at 7:05

The Padres beat the Mets, 7-5. The Mets are at the Mariners tonight at 10:10.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 6-4. The Ponies host the New Hampshire Fisher Cats today at 7.

The Syracuse Chiefs beat the Louisville Bats, 5-4. The Chiefs host the Gwinnett Braves at 7.

The Tampa Bay Rays made a couple of moves yesterday as they battle for a playoff spot. Tampa Bay acquired pitcher Dan Jennings from the White Sox for first baseman Casey Gillaspie. The Rays also picked up first baseman Lucas Duda from the New York Mets in exchange for pitcher Drew Smith.

The Chicago White Sox have placed All-Star outfielder Avisail Garcia on the 10-day disabled list with a sprained right thumb.

The Washington Nationals belted a franchise record eight home runs yesterday in their 15-2 rout of the Milwaukee Brewers. The Nationals also tied two major league records in a seven-run third by hitting four consecutive home runs and five total homers in an inning.

Last night’s extra-innings win by the Yankees was costly for Aaron Judge, who lost a tooth in the home plate celebration following Brett Gardner’s walk-off homer when catcher Austin Romine’s helmet appeared to hit him in the mouth. (See here)

The Golden State Warriors will reportedly re-sign center JaVale McGee to a one-year contract for the veteran’s minimum

The New York Jets have claimed running back and kick returner Marcus Murphy off waivers from the New Orleans Saints. As a result, the Jets waived running back Brandon Wilds.

Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman David Irving suffered a nipple injury during the team’s training camp. Irving tweeted that he lost his nipple ring during practice and told reporters, “It hurt so bad I just had to let the world know.”

Joe Gibbs Racing has suspended two crewmen from Martin Truex Jr.’s NASCAR Cup Series team after they got into a shouting match with Kyle Busch crew chief Adam Stevens. The incident took place after the two drivers crashed each other out while battling for the lead at Indianapolis.

Kevin Chappell, Matt Every, Hudson Swafford, Brandon Hagy and Ollie Schniederjans were tied for the lead at the rain-delayed RBC Canadian Open when darkness suspended play during the first round yesterday.

Karrie Webb shot a 7-under-par 65 in cold and windy conditions yesterday to take a one-stroke lead over Cristie Kerr after the first round of the Ladies Scottish Open.
