Motorcyclist Lays Down Hike Bike, Then Hit By Truck

Local News

Friday morning at about 3:52 am, David Andrews, 64, of Watertown, was driving his 1985 Honda motorcycle at what State Police describe as an unsafe speed for wet road conditions.

Andrews was unable to maintain control causing him to drop the bike on its right side on I-81 south, just past Cortland (Exit 11).

At about 3:55 am, troopers say while Andrews was standing in the roadway he was struck by a 2014 Volvo tractor trailer that was being operated by Ousmane Barry, 41, of Syracuse.

Andrews was struck by the front passenger headlamp.

After both accidents, Andrews was transported to Upstate Medical with what police describe as minor bleeding head injuries.

No tickets were issued to either person, according to State Police officer Nathan Riegal.
