This is New York’s fourth annual Invasive Species Awareness Week (ISAW) July 9-15.
The State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) educational campaign aims to help New Yorkers understand the negative impacts invasive species can have on our environment, economy, and health.
Another goal is to empower residents to take action to stop the spread of these destructive pests, plants, and diseases.
The DEC plans two events in Cortland County, both Saturday morning at 8. Educational materials will be made available at both Tully and Little York Lakes.
Justin Perry, the Chief of DEC’s Bureau of Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health, Division of Lands and Forests will explain how we all can help fight against invasive species Saturday morning at 9 on Meet Cortland County on X101.
