A man from Cortland was charged with first-degree vehicular assault and boating while intoxicated.
According to information released by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s department, Erich Lindhorst, 28, hit a friend who was swimming near the boat at about 5:45 pm Saturday.
The incident happened in Skaneateles Lake near Sandy Beach.
The injured man, Kyle Crosley, 28, of Penfield (near Rochester), and formerly of Homer, suffered injuries to his lower body and according to police, is in critical condition at Upstate University Hospital.
Deputies say two doctors were nearby and helped prepare Crosley for a helicopter flight to Syracuse.
Lindhorst is in custody at the Onondaga County Justice Center and is expected to be arraigned in Skaneateles court today.
