Parents of students at Homer High School received the notice below this afternoon from Superintendent of Schools Nancy Ruscio:
Dear Parents:A threat was discovered at the high school today around 11 am. The police were called and we entered a Shelter-in-place to keep students and staff safe while a sweep of the building was conducted and revealed nothing. The police have indicated that the Shelter-in-Place can be ended and students will move on to shortened classes for the remainder of the day. The police are continuing their investigation of said threat. As always, we will communicate in these situations as quickly as we can and with as much information as we can. The safety of the children is always our main priority. Thank you.
That is the information provided to us on the situation late this morning at Homer High School. Again, a threat was reported, students were kept in class, the building was searched, classes resumed and the police investigation continues. We are not aware of any injuries related to this investigation.
