On Thursday, the Cortland Professional Firefighters Association presented the check from collections made on a rainy Saturday.

Receiving the donation was Kristen Lemaire, executive director of the MDA regional office in Syracuse. “They did an awesome, awesome job. They give continued support every year and they always go out there as a team and they do a good job,” said Lemaire.

Cortland’s MDA Ambassador, Noah Cole, told X101 this is probably his favorite MDA event. “Hanging out with the firefighters, on the ‘Fill the Boot,’ it’s kind of fun!”

Noah plans to continue as the local ambassador. He’s graduating from Cortland High this year and will study political science at SUNY Cortland in the fall.

The check presentation ceremony was at the historic Cortland main fire station.

According to Cortland firefighter Drew Hill, “Fill the Boot” raised more than $6,315, the most anyone can remember.
