The following is a statement released by Cortland Regional Medical Center
In anticipation of Thursday’s vote on the repeal and replacement of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Cortland Regional would like to issue the following statement:
“Some 20 million Americans gained health coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), including millions of our most vulnerable citizens — children, the disabled, and the elderly. If Congress repeals the ACA today, 1 million New York State residents stand to lose their health insurance. Among these will be our friends and neighbors – many of whom depend on the safety net that this vital coverage provides.
As Congress considers the future of the ACA, we urge our representatives to protect our patients. Any repeal of the ACA in whole or in part must be accompanied by a simultaneous and meaningful replacement that preserves access to health care for our communities and provides affordable coverage for as many Americans as possible.”
