A Cortland High School student was rushed to Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse Friday afternoon after suffering an apparent cardiac episode.
TLC Ambulance and City of Cortland fire/rescue crews were called after 17-year old Sam Forrester collapsed on the football field at the end of track practice.
As required, the school had an AED (portable defibrillator) which was used to revive the tenth grade student.
Forrester is listed in critical but stable condition at Golisano.
In a statement Saturday, Cortland Superintendent of Schools Michael Hoose said, “I want to thank the staff members and first responders for their quick action and professionalism.”
When school reopens on Monday, counselors will be available at Cortland High School for any students, faculty or staff as needed.
