Tenney Concerned Over Move-In Delays

Local News

Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (R-NY) released a statement in response to inquiries regarding district office locations and hours for the 22nd Congressional District:

“It is a distinct honor to represent the Mohawk Valley and Southern Tier in Congress, and I look forward to building strong relationships with my constituents throughout the 22nd district.”

Tenney added, “My staff and I welcome and encourage the input and feedback of constituents, as it is a vital part of creating an open dialogue and continued conversation about the critical issues facing our country. As a United States Representative it is my duty to ensure that the voices of my constituents are heard.”

Tenny blames the bureaucracy of the federal government which she says has prolonged the process of opening district offices.

Members of Congress are unable to use any official resources until they are sworn-in, which was January 3.

“It is a shame that the onerous processes of the federal government continue to slow the opening of our offices,” said Tenney.  “My staff and I are working diligently to ensure all of the district offices are up and running as soon as possible.”

Please know that my staff and I are eager to schedule time with anyone who would like to meet with us at their convenience.

In the meantime, our staff in the Washington, D.C. office is working alongside staff in the district to handle all casework, constituent concerns and legislative duties.

Staff is available in the D.C. office to directly address concerns between the hours of 9am to 6pm. If constituents are unable to call during that time, please leave a message or send an email, and the staff will respond as soon as possible. Our phone number in the Washington, D.C. office is 202-225-3665, and the office is located in the Cannon House Office Building, Room 512.

Constituents are welcome and encouraged to stop by our district office that is currently open in New Hartford, and if they are unable to stop during business hours, we are happy to schedule an appointment at their convenience. Phone lines are currently being installed, during this installation process the office has a temporary phone number, 315-956-1224.

We will also have an office in the Southern Tier, located in downtown Binghamton. However, we are waiting on a lease to be approved by the federal government before we are able to move into the space.

In the interim, staff in the Southern Tier is working remotely and will host mobile office hours during the week, which will be posted and updated on our website, Tenney.house.gov. Our temporary office phone number is 607-376-6002. The office will have a permanent phone number shortly, which will be posted on our website once we officially move into the space.
