Dolly Parton has tapped Reba, Kenny Rogers and Alison Krauss to help her raise money for those affected by the recent wildfires in Gatlingburg and Pigeon Forge, TN during her upcoming Smoky Mountains Rise: A Benefit for the My People Fund telethon concert. The three-hour fundraiser will air on the Great American Country network beginning at 8 p.m. ET on December 13th. Other outlets to be announced will simulcast the event and more artists will be added to the roster.
Dolly said, “My home in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee is some place special. Wildfires have affected many of the people — my people — who live in those beautiful mountains. We want to provide a hand up to those families who have lost everything in the fires. I know it has been a trying time for my people, and this assistance will help get them back on their feet.”
Dolly recently established the My People Fund to provide $1,000 a month for six months to families “whose homes are uninhabitable or were completely destroyed” because of the fires. For more information visit dollywoodfoundation.org.
The wildfires took the lives of 13 people, injured 100 and damaged or destroyed more than 1,400 structures.
