Cortland Police Report Three Arrests

A man from Groton who allegedly fought with a woman at a residence on Kellogg Street, was arrested by Cortland Police early Sunday.

Police identify the man as Dominik DeMatteo, who is 23.

He’s charged with criminal mischief, trespass and harassment.

Officers say not only did DeMatteo refuse to leave, he wouldn’t allow her to call police, hitting the 23-year old woman and damaging her cell phone.

DeMatteo was released to return to court December 23.


Is he getting the message?

Cortland Police report the arrest of Adam McMahon, 25, of Madison Street in Cortland.

He was arrested early Sunday for returning to a Main Street address where a woman had an order of protection against him.

McMahon had also previously been convicted of criminal contempt.

This time officers charged him with felony counts of aggravated family offense and criminal contempt.

McMahon was sent to the county jail with no bail allowed, and is to appear in court Monday.


A traffic stop Saturday evening led to the arrest of a man from Cortland for making meth and possession of a controlled substance, according to Cortland Police.

Robert Benson, 42, was in a vehicle stopped on South Avenue.

Officers say they found him with meth, and the equipment to make meth.

He’s to appear in court Monday.
