Police Target DWI and Drivers Using Cell Phones This Week

cell phone drivingWednesday through Sunday, state and local police will conduct a Thanksgiving holiday crackdown for unsafe driving behaviors, according to the state STOP-DWI program.

State DMV investigators will also conduct underage drinking and fake ID enforcement sweeps, during what is traditionally a big week for bars.

The agencies say we should expect sobriety checkpoints, and unmarked vehicles looking for drivers using their phones.

19 people died in car crashes last Thanksgiving, according to the state, 8 from alcohol related crashes.
