The votes totals are nearly identical in the race for Cortland County District Attorney.

According to unofficial results provided by the Cortland County Board of Elections, Republican Pat Perfetti finished with 50.42% of the vote, and Democrat incumbent District Attorney Mark Suben has 49.49%.

Perfetti told WXHC overnight it was tough waiting for results.

“Well, it was kind of actually painful because the numbers were very slow coming in for about the first 90 minutes.”

Incumbent Suben declined comment.

The vote totals as of Wednesday morning: Perfetti 9,018, Suben 8,851.

“It’s a narrow victory and it’s reported there are 1,263 absentees out, so, we’re very cognizant of the significance of that,” said Perfetti.

Syracuse-dot-com cites state election records showing Perfetti’s campaign outspent Suben’s this year, $40,107 to $15,699.

As a reminder, vote totals need to be certified by the Board of Elections and will include the absentee ballots.
