Cortland Police have arrested a suspect believed to be involved in multiple burglaries, at the time of his arrest he was found in a stolen car with a loaded handgun.
Just before noon Thursday, City Police stopped a vehicle on Port Watson Street. The car was reported stolen from Elm Street.
The driver, 25-year-old Michael Dishaw of Georgetown, was found to be driving without a license. A further search of the vehicle turned up a loaded handgun and small quantity of meth.
Dishaw was charged with felony counts of possessing stolen property, two counts of weapons possession along with misdemeanor counts of possessing a controlled substance operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs and aggravated unlicensed operation.
A short time later police responded to the Ramada Inn on River Street after a guest there reported his property was stolen. The victim traced the theft to a room that had been rented by Dishaw. Police responded and found the victims property along with other stolen items.
