State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman plans an afternoon visit to Syracuse Thursday.

He will deliver news that could help Cortland and other communities across the state get rid of so-called “Zombie” homes.

Schneiderman will announce that the state will make $13-million available for those vacant, abandoned, and run-down homes that are often going through foreclosure.

Cortland is one of 13 communities in Central New York that is eligible for these grants, which can be used for code violations, legal action or to help homeowners avoid foreclosure.
