Kinney Drugs of New York and Vermont, was recognized by CVS Caremark, the prescription benefit management business of CVS Health, as the number one pharmacy chain in the country for their patient medication adherence performance in 2015.
This recognition is part of the CVS Caremark Network’s performance program, which focuses on driving improvements in medication safety and adherence and increasing health outcomes of each patient.
Kinney Drugs is an employee-owned company, providing pharmacy and health care services for more than 112 years.
With 100 drug store locations, pharmacy teams offer patients a personalized approach to their health care regimen. Patients can benefit from medication synchronization, automatic prescription refills, medication therapy management, blood pressure screenings, diabetes management programs and home prescription delivery.
In a statement released to WXHC, the president of Kinney Drugs said, “We are truly honored to receive this recognition, as it is a testament to the quality of care that our pharmacists deliver each and every day.”
The New England Healthcare Institute found that medication non-adherence costs the health care system nearly $300 billion annually. Community pharmacists are uniquely positioned within the health care system, and their role in improving medication adherence and safety is positively impacting patient outcomes.
Pharmacists are on the front line of patient care, helping patients to remain engaged and compliant with their prescribed care plan.
