Greek Peak opens its expanded Bike Park Saturday 12-5 pm.
The Visions Express Quad Chairlift takes riders and their bikes to the top of the hill. and pick your trail. Travis McDowell says now the really serious cyclists won’t have to travel to find a trail suitable for their bikes.
Travis McDowell of Greek Peak says riders can choose the Cross Country system or downhill trails marked green, blue and black diamond – from easy to difficult.
McDowell says the expanded Bike Park means the really serious cyclists won’t have to travel a long distance to find a trail that challenges their bikes.
“When you get into the higher end of the mountain and gravity bikes there’s not a lot of opportunities to ride it because you really do need a downhill trail,” said McDowell.
The challenge and variety of trails for all abilities are key, according to John Galli of the Advance Cyclery bike shop at Greek Peak.
“Anyone can ride the blue or green trails. There’s nothing there that you couldn’t bring your 15-year old kid, your 12-year old son or daughter and let them ride it,” said Galli.
Rental bikes and safety gear are available.
Along with the Bike Park, Greek Peak offers chairlift rides for sightseeing.
The Bike Park Grand Opening celebration is Saturday from noon to 5.
