National Grid Rates Frozen Until March 2018

Local News

National Grid’s 1.7-million customers learned Monday that electric and natural gas delivery rates will be frozen through March 2018, as part of an agreement with the state Public Service Commission.

The utility wanted to borrow more than $2-billion to upgrade its transmission and distribution system.

The PSC says its permission is similar to arrangements made with utilities such as Con-Ed and National Fuel Gas.

Bottom line: The average residential customer electric bill will be steady around $50 per month and $41 a month for the typical National Grid gas customer.
