The American Red Cross, in coordination with AmeriCorps and the Cortland Rotary Club, will be visiting Pine Hill Mobile Home Park in Homer this Sunday to install free smoke alarms.
In addition to installing free smoke detectors, volunteers will provide home fire safety information to residents.
The effort is part of The Red Cross Home Fire Campaign. The initiative is aimed at reducing the number of deaths and injuries caused by home fires by 25 percent over the next five years.
The Red Cross is asking every household to take two simple steps: check their existing smoke alarms and practice fire drills at home.
