Cortland Man Arrested For Calling in Bomb Threat at Local Military Recruiter Office

Local News

A Cortland man is charged with falsely reporting an incident after he called in a bomb threat to the local army recruiters office.

25-year-old David Thompson of 8 South Ave. was arrested Monday and charged with a felony count of falsely reporting an incident.

Cortland Police say last Thursday Thompson called the military recruiters office at 91 Main Street and said there was a bomb in the building.

Police responded and searched the property and found no explosives.

Police say that when questioned about the call, Thompson admitted phoning in the threat. He told officers he is writing a book and wanted to verify the military procedures used when a bomb threat is received.

Thompson will have time work on his manuscript while he awaits his next court appearance in the county jail where he is being held on $5 thousand dollars cash.
