On Saturday’s edition of our weekly Meet Cortland County segment:
Cortland Repertory Theatre Producing Artistic Director Kerby Thompson discussed the family-friendly “Stories in the Park” event coming up on July 16 & 17 at Dwyer Memorial Park, 6799 Little York Lake Road in Preble.
Thompson described the event as a “reverse parade,” in which the audience will drive along a fantastical musical path populated by high-spirited costumed characters from favorite childhood stories, all from the safety of their own vehicles.
An elaborate game of “I Spy” can be played as families spot story book characters and objects hidden in and around the beautiful Dwyer Park (the location of the Little York Pavilion and normally where CRT makes its summer home).
Kids of all ages can be on the lookout for Cinderella, Pinocchio, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan and many others.
Members of the community have several opportunities to catch the action, including Thursday, July 16 from 1-3pm & 5-7pm, as well as during the same time periods on Friday, July 17.
Suggested donations of $5.00 per vehicle will be accepted at the gate.
