An underage drinking crackdown in downtown Cortland found dozens of patrons under 21 consuming alcohol at one bar.
City police joined agents with the New York State Liquor Authority on the operation, which started at about 11 pm Friday (October 22).
Teams checked multiple establishments in the area, then decided to perform a more thorough check at 100 Main Street — located in the basement of Hairy Tony’s.
The business is listed officially as part of the licensed establishment under the name Hairy McTony’s Irish Pub.
Of the 82 individuals present inside the bar:
- 70 had entered with fake ID
- 69 individuals were under the age of 21
- One was actually 21, but still had a fake ID
- Just 12 were at the bar legally
Tickets were issued to each of the 70 with fake ID’s in their possession.
New York State Liquor Authority is continuing the investigation.
