The busy retail corridor on Route 13 in the Town of Cortlandville has lately become a prime area for new businesses opening or planning to open locations. One of those businesses is 7 Brew, a drive-thru only coffee chain well known in the Midwest with a nearby location in Vestal. 7 Brew looks to build their third location in the state right next to the A&W mini golf on Route 13.

7 Brew was founded back in 2017 in Rogers Arkansas and has rapidly grown since. The chain features 7 original coffees for patrons to choose from. Plans for the new Cortlandville location call for a double lane drive thru with parking for up to 11 vehicles.

The coffee chain focuses on espresso-based, energy, and smoothie drinks. No food products will be served except for muffin tops. Plans for the location call for a double order and pick-up lane capable of holding up to 23 vehicles. The chain specializes in drive-thru and no dine services are offered.

Operating hours once fully open will be from 5:30am to 10pm weekdays and 5:30am to 11 pm weekends. Patrons visiting will not order at a window, but have an employee walk up to your vehicle and place your order on an iPad. Once you move up to the window, your order will be brought to your vehicle.

Board Chair Chris Newell asked about what will happen in the event of bad weather, representatives of 7 Brew said an overhang with installed heaters will protect employees from the elements.

The timeline for construction is aimed for groundbreaking in either June or July of this year. The building process for the location would be extremely simple as the building comes as a prefabricated building and then assembled together.

With no further questions, the Planning Board voted unanimously to send the plans to the county for review and recommendations.
