Celebrations however, will kick off this evening in Downtown Cortland with the start of the 2nd annual Crown City Cortaca Celebration.
The celebration is a partnership between the City of Cortland, SUNY Cortland, and the Cortland County Restaurant and Tavern Association and will be held this evening and Saturday. Celebrations will begin at 6pm tonight with the Cortaca Community Pep Rally. The rally will be hosted by the SUNY Cortland Student Activities Board. The event will include live performances and entertainment.
Tonight will also include special guests including: SUNY Cortland Football coaches and team captains, Student Government Association President, Mayor Scott Steve, and President Erik Bitterbaum, as they share messages of community and Red Dragon spirit. At 8pm, performances from SUNY Cortland’s cheer team, Ritmo Latino Dance Group, and Kickline will take place.
Attendees will also be able to enjoy food trucks, carnival games, temporary tattoo booths, prizes, a mechanical bull, and more.
For tomorrow, a viewing party will be held in the parking lot next to the Marketplace Mall. The viewing party will be under a large heated tent, Crown City Rising says, with the game being live-streamed.
