The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office says a member of its Department was arrested yesterday following accusations he defrauded the Village of Moravia while secondarily employed as a Police Officer there.
42-year-old Robert Brown is the accused. He’s been with the Cayuga County Sheriffs Dept since 2007.
His arrest yesterday comes after a nearly three-month criminal investigation that started in January.
Evidence gathered during this investigation shows that Brown submitted false time records to the Village of Moravia for hours worked as a Police Officer.
Among the charges he now faces are falsifying business records and 4th degree Grand Larceny as a crime of public corruption.
Brown was arraigned yesterday in the Owasco Town Court and released on his own recognizance to reappear at a later day.
That investigation is still ongoing.
