More details are released on a crash early Sunday evening just south of Cortland County, which is reported to have killed five people and involved two large vehicles on Route 79 in the town Richford.
The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office says it happened just before 5:30 pm, when a Honda Pilot tried passing another vehicle and collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota Tacoma.
Three out of a total of five passengers in the Honda were killed and that the other two fatalities were the sole occupants in the Toyota, according to investigators. The two who survived the crash are now in the hospital.
None of the involved have been identified.
