4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration Today at Courthouse Park in City of Cortland

The 4th annual Juneteenth Celebration in the City of Cortland will be held today from 12pm to 3pm. Juneteenth is the honoring of the ending of slavery in the United States. The official holiday will take place on June 19th (Wednesday).

Today’s event is free and will include music, games, vendors, giveaways, and a dunk tank. The annual event is hosted by the Cortland County Community of Color (C4) which is a collaborative initiative between SUNY Cortland and Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3).

Speakers this year will include: Dr. Erik J. Bitterbaum, Dr. Amy Kremenek, New York Senator Lea Webb, NY Assemblymember Anna R. Kelles, Regina Grantham, and Apryl Beatty.

There will also be a singing performance by Alicia Govens. There will also be a DJ during the event. Catering by MarShell’s beginning at 12:30pm with food being served first-come first-served.

The event has been co-sponsored by both SUNY Cortland, TC3, and the Central NY Foundation. Over 15 vendors will be attending the Juneteenth celebrations.
