Four people were arrested Sunday night during an attempted shoplifting at the Cortlandville WalMart.
The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded just before 8 pm after several disorderly suspects were caught trying to steal from the store, namely 25-year-old Christopher Duers, 33-year-old Stacy Updike and 30-year-old James Wright, all of whom are Cortland residents and were taken into custody at the scene.
Duers was also found to be in possession of marijuana and a large quantity of narcotics.
Another suspect, 30-year-old Philicia Twomey was also arrested at the scene after she was found driving a vehicle and waiting for the other three to exit the store.
Twomey was also found in possession of hypodermic instruments and a small amount of narcotics.
Duers was arraigned and released to the Alternatives to Incarceration program, while Updike, Wright, and Twomey were released on appearance tickets.
