Localities across New York must submit plans on ‘reforming and reinventing’ their police departments by April 2021 to avoid being cut-off from any future state funding.
Governor Andrew Cuomo made that declaration by executive order in June, then followed up with additional guidance in August.
City of Cortland officials already scheduled several public forums on the topic.
- The first is set for Monday (November 23) from 1-3 pm via Zoom.
- Another will be held Monday, November 30th from 4:30-6:30pm.
- Finally, a third is planned for Thursday, December 3rd from 6:30-8:30pm.
Anyone wishing to participate is asked to reserve a three-minute time slot or submit comments in writing.
Both can be done by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
