3 arrested for pair of C’Ville shoplifting incidents

Three people were arrested last week in connection with a pair of shoplifting complaints from the Kinney Drugs and Lowe’s Home Improvement stores in the town of Cortlandville.

On Tuesday, employees at Kinney Drugs provided a description of the suspects and their vehicle to the Cortland County 911 Center. Soon, they were determined to be persons of interest in the prior incident at Lowes.

Troopers at Homer pulled their vehicle over on I-81 Northbound about two miles south of the Tully exit.

Five occupants in the vehicle were interviewed and ultimately three were charged, including 22-year-old Tysheema Williams, 25-year-old Nikkai Burgess Jr and an unnamed 18-year-old-female.

Each is from Syracuse and was given appearance tickets to Cortlandville Town Court on future dates.

Burgess also gave troopers a fake name initially to try and cover up an active warrant for his arrest from the Dewitt Police Department.

  • Tysheema M. Williams, age 22 of Syracuse, NY was charged with two counts of the misdemeanor Petit Larceny for her role in taking items from Kinney Drugs and Lowe’s.  She was issued an appearance ticket to the town of Cortlandville Court on August 10, 2020.
  • An 18-year-old female of Syracuse, NY was charged with two counts of the misdemeanor Petit Larceny for her role in taking items from Kinney Drugs and Lowe’s.  She was issued an appearance ticket to the town of Cortlandville Court on August 10, 2020.
  • Nikkai L. Burgess Jr., age 25 of Syracuse, NY was charged with misdemeanor Petit Larceny and Criminal Impersonation in the second degree for his role in taking items from Lowe’s.  During processing, troopers learned that Burgess Jr. had provided a fake name during the time of arrest and he was additionally charged with Criminal Impersonation.  Burgess Jr. was issued an appearances ticket to the town of Cortlandville Court on August 10, 2020.
