3 arrested for drugs & weapons during traffic stop in Virgil

Three non-area residents were found with illegal drugs and weapons in their vehicle during a traffic stop in Virgil.

The trio was pulled over last Sunday (April 4) near the Virgil Country Store located at 2964 Webb Road by officers with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department.

Eventually, they were identified as 24-year-old Englund Horgan, of Elmira; 43-year-old Peter McCarthy, of Black Creek; and 32-year-old Cory Barber, of Manlius.

McCarthy and Barber initially tried giving fake names to authorities.

All three subjects were brought to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
