UPDATED 1:03 PM:
Route 281 has now reopened as of 1PM.
A two vehicle crash late this morning (July 29) has shutdown both the northbound and southbound lanes of Route 281 in Homer between James Street and Clinton Street.
Homer Fire, along with Homer Police and TLC Ambulance personal were dispatched at 10:53 am to the scene at the corner of Bedford Street and 281.
A paramedic on scene immediately called for more ambulances to respond with six injured and called for three medivac helicopters. Tully, Dryden Ambulance, and Marcellus Volunteer EMS also responded to the scene.
Four people were take to Upstate with minor injuries. The other two patients sustained critical injuries, were transported via Mercy Flight to Upstate. The third medivac helicopter was cancelled.
